Youth Companies

The Youth Companies are an exciting part of Eden Dance and play a big role in the development of contemporary dance in Cumbria. Students are encouraged to use their creative skills through improvisation; tasks based work and contact partnering skills along with working on Cunningham, Graham and release techniques to push the boundaries of their skills as dancers.

   Eden Youth Dance Company Juniors

EYDCJ is open to dancers age 7-12 who meet once a month for 2 hours on a Saturday at the Playstation in Penrith for technique class and creative development making a piece for performances throughout the year.

   Eden Youth Dance Company Seniors

EYDC is a small company of gifted dancers aged 13-17 who meet once a week on Thursdays 6-7pm at the Playstation in Penrith for technical and creative training in preparation for performances throughout the year. Over the past few years they have performed new works each year at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and as part the NW Regional platform at the Lowry in Manchester.  They are encouraged to push the boundaries and are the flagship company of the school inspiring young dancers to develop their skills to become part of the company. Most recently EYDC have been selected to the UK National Festival for 2016 to represent Cumbria.

   Eden Boyz Moves

EBM is the flagship company for Boys dance in the area. They are talented, energetic group from age 7 to 13 who meet once a week on a Wednesday 5.30-6.30pm at the Playstation in Penrith to develop their skills in contemporary technique and creative work alongside strength and conditioning work through a powerful, dynamic fusion of urban street/contemporary work. They create 2 dances a year for performances and have just launched their debut Dance on Screen film: Shadow Self which will be shown at the NW Regional Platform at the Lowry 2016.
